Tyre Tips

Your tyres are the only contact points between your vehicle and the road and as such it is essential that they remain in top condition. With modern vehicles designed around precise engineering tolerances, the correct fitting of tyres is both a safety and performance necessity. For correct handling and performance results you should only get your tyres fitted by a professional tyrefitter. Here at Richard's Tyrepower we want our customers to get the maximum benefit from their tyres and we have included this tyre tip page to help increase both the life of your tyres and the safe operation of your vehicle.

MAIN CAUSES OF WEAR AND TEAR ON TYRES

• Heat
• Under inflation
• Over inflation
• Higher than recommended speeds
• Overloading

Remember to...

• Check the tyre pressure each fortnight, when the tyres are cold.
• Inspect the tyre tread and side walls for cuts, abrasions, unusual wear or road damage.
• Do not drive on flat or severly under-inflated tyres, this will cause serious damage.
• Take quick action to rectify any unusual sounds or vibrations.
• Balance and wheel alignment should be regularly checked, normally every 10,000 kms.
• Front wheel drive vehicles tend to wear the front tyres quicker than a rear wheel drive, therefore requiring more frequent attention
